We are on a quest to find the resorts with the best Australian water parks!
We were fortunate enough to have visited one of the most beautiful caravan parks in NSW, with an amazing water park. My kids thought it was the greatest thing ever. We want to go back! This year, I started compiling the best water parks for kids at the top caravan park in Australia. I hope to create a comprehensive list that we can work through. To start, I asked the travel bloggers what their favourite resorts in Australia had water parks.
We can enjoy the sun and unpack in caravan parks that have water parks. (Unless we really want to!) I can’t wait to try some of them! I will be adding to this post over time, so I hope that eventually I can have a large list of places for you to use when planning your next vacation.
The best holiday parks with waterparks in NSW
The state of NSW has some great family holiday parks. Caravan parks with self-catering and lots of activities for kids are our favourite. This is the aquapark that started our obsession with water parks for kids. It was discovered while I was in Byron Bay, writing an article for Australia & New Zealand magazine. There is a fantastic water park, with slides, sprays and tumbling buckets. It also has a jumping cushion, great outdoor pools and plenty of sun loungers for parents to sit in the sunshine and supervise their children. The kids were enthralled and didn’t want us to leave.
Discovery Parks Byron Bay was the best water park in Australia I have visited (but I still need to travel more and visit the others listed below). You can choose to stay in cabins, bring your tent, or caravan. The drive to the centre of Byron is short, but once you get there, you’ll want to stay all week because your kids will have non-stop fun.
Best Queensland Holiday Parks with Waterparks
Queensland has some of Australia’s best water parks for kids and holiday parks (aren’t you lucky ?!). No matter when you go, the Sunshine State’s tropical climate makes it a great place to enjoy a day at a waterpark.
Paradise Resort Gold Coast
The Gold Coast’s Paradise Resort is not only the best resort for families in Australia, but also has the best waterpark and pool areas.
The main shopping area is within walking distance. You may not want to leave this resort. It was built for families and is packed with family-friendly facilities and activities. The resort has a huge water area and a variety of family-friendly activities and facilities.
The kids’ club has a full program of activities, including magic shows and adult activities such as cheese and wine sampling.
You are most interested in the waterpark! There are several pools, a smaller water playground, and a larger one. This photo is just a tiny part of what’s available. A huge inflatable water slide is also available.
Many different room types can accommodate families of any size. Come here if you’re looking for a family-friendly resort that has a great waterpark!
Paradise Resort is consistently ranked as the best family resort in Australia. It has excellent facilities that will keep the whole family entertained. This is a rare find, a kids’ club that takes both babies and toddlers. It can be a great relief to parents who want some downtime. We also like the fact that there are some rooms for larger families.
Melissa of Thrifty Family Travels shares with us her favourite water park
The Oaks Oasis, located in Caloundra along the Queensland Sunshine Coast, has one of our favourite waterparks at a resort for families. Parents will enjoy a relaxing break as their children are busy splashing around.
It is a great location, as everything can be reached on foot. You can walk from the resort to the beach and supermarket, as well as to many restaurants and shops.
The accommodation options are varied, from self-contained apartments with 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms to hotel rooms. The hotel rooms are spacious and have two double beds, so there is enough space for a four-person family.
The 500m2 waterpark is a highlight. You will find a variety of water slides, interactive activities and foundations. Parents can relax on the sun loungers, tables and chairs located around the perimeter while watching their children. The water park is available from 9 am to 5 pm every day.
The resort also has a resort-style swimming pool, spa, playgrounds, putt-putt golf, climbing frames, and a giant jumping pillow.
The top family resorts of Australia always include this resort. The Oaks at Caloundra is really impressive. The resort is a great place for your children to spend their holiday. With its lush tropical grounds, resort-style swimming pool, and other family activities, as well as an incredible outdoor waterpark, they won’t even want to leave.
Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort
Sophie from Baby, Toddler and Kids shares with us her favourite waterpark for kids.
The Coconut Holiday Resort is now our favourite place to stay when we visit. It’s only a 10-minute drive from the centre of town. The resort is ideal for families who want to be near Cairns, but still have the option to stay in the park and enjoy themselves for the day.
The waterpark has two pools, one with flume-style water slides and another with a children’s hot tub. It also has two giant jumping pillows, playparks, sports equipment to hire, go-karts, outdoor films, and more.
The accommodation, which ranges from budget studios to large cabins that can accommodate larger families, is also excellent. The gardens are well-maintained, and the rooms are incredibly clean. You even get free jellies at checkout!
The best caravan parks with waterparks in Victoria
Even in the cooler months, a waterpark near Melbourne is a great option.
Big 4 Anglesea Holiday Park
The Big 4 Anglesea Holiday Park, located within walking distance of the beach, river and town shops, is an ideal place for the whole family to enjoy a relaxing weekend and explore the Great Ocean Road.
There are many accommodation options, including spacious sites for caravans and tents, suites, 2- and 3-bedroom units, safari tents, and bell tents. The amenities are clean and well presented. There is a laundry facility, an adventure playground with a jumping pillow and giant outdoor chess, a cinema room with Foxtel, and an indoor games room for toddlers and older children.
This heated complex features a large and shallow pool, a water slide, and a waterfall. It will provide hours of fun for children of all ages. Parents can sit around the water’s edge to watch their children play.
Anglesea, a beautiful town on the Great Ocean Road, has a lot of family-friendly activities. There are skateparks, playgrounds near the beach, tennis courts, walking and biking tracks, and a swimming beach.
The Big4 Anglesea caravan park is one of Victoria’s best. The heated pools and splash parks are located inside the park, which means you can use them throughout the year.
How to choose a family park with a splash park
I am looking forward to adding more caravan parks with water parks to this list as they come up. Many caravan parks are great for children. Families’ll surround you, and there will be plenty to keep them entertained. If you opt for a park with cabins, you can prepare your meals and save money. You can spend lazy days in nature surrounded by BBQ points. You can enjoy your holiday even more if you own your caravan.
Choose the best splash park for your kids when choosing a caravan park.
Consider these tips when selecting the best aqua parks for kids:
Do the facilities at the splash parks look like they’ll entertain your children throughout the holiday?
Is the size of the splash park or aqua park suitable for your children? Is there a separate section for your very young children?
Do you have a pool where you can also swim and play?
Is there a lot of seating around the waterpark area where you can watch your children?
What kind of accommodation is available? Is there a full kitchen and a washing machine? (With all the swimming, you might need to wash and dry things constantly!)
It is important to me that there is a dishwasher. Nobody wants to spend their holiday washing dishes!
Do you have a climbing frame or jumping pillow?
Are there any restaurants or take-outs nearby or on the site for those days you don’t feel like cooking?
Is there a discount for booking early? Booking.com offers deals that allow you to pay now and cancel later or get a free cancellation so that you can book later in the year.
Do you have any places or attractions in the area that would interest you? You should stay long enough for the kids to have a great time at the water park in the caravan park.
